Deann's Story

We are pleased to introduce you to Deann. Although she did not battle Histio, it was her vision and mission to help others battling Histio. She is the founder of Play for a Cure (created back in 1997) because of her love for softball, her community, Andrew "Drew" Harris, and wanting to make a difference for those battling Histio.

 Deann built a legacy for the community to come together and make a difference for those battling Histiocytosis.

Unfortunately, Deann passed away in November of 2022 after her own battle to an idiopathic interstitial lung disease.  She will be remembered for the amazing work she did for the community, and we are proud to have her as an honorary captain as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of this event.
