It has been 11 years now since our 6 month old baby girl, Maddy was diagnosed with a rare blood disease called Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH).  Histiocytic disorders are a group of diseases that occur when there is an over-production of white blood cells known as histiocytes that can lead to organ damage and tumor formation. This group is made up of a wide variety of conditions that can affect both children and adults.  Maddy was followed by the amazing team at the U of M Fairview, Oncology.   She has not had any symptoms of LCH for many years.

She is a TRUE WARRIOR and thank God for her.

2024 marks a 9-year span since Team Maddy (mom, Shay and auntie, Jessica) completed a treacherous 13.3 mile hike in the rugged Blue Ridge Mountains during Histio Hike Shenandoah, Virginia.  This year, ALL Fossum girls (Haley, Shay and LCH Warrior, Maddy of Minnesota) will join up with the Larsen-Chaney girls (Jessica and Indigo of North Carolina) again on April 26th to journey a 9.6 mile hike during Histio Hike Shenandoah, to raise funds for more effective treatments and ultimately, a cure.   The Histiocytosis Association is dedicated to supporting and empowering the patients and families who live with these devastating diseases every day and this fundraiser will help!

Please help us reach our fundraising goal and make a gift today!

Thank you for supporting Team Maddy and the Histiocytosis Association.

…a little note from our LCH Warrior, Maddy…

Thank you so much for your gift! I am very grateful to be alive and to have had fought this disease as so many others have not.  I am excited to hike in the mountains with my family!  And to have so much fun exploring and seeing the waterfalls!  I feel so blessed.  Thank you, again.
