Honor James by Helping

Two-thousand eleven will be remembered as the year that my life changed forever. In March, my husband, James Doyle, was diagnosed with hemophagocytosis, a rare blood disorder. James had not been feeling well since November 2010, and after many visits to the doctor with no answers, James had a seizure on the way to work in March 2011 and was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. After being diagnosed, he began chemotherapy. While treatment initially went well, on a return visit to Rochester in April for follow-up tests, James was readmitted to the hospital due to several complications. While doctors worked hard to treat him, James passed away in the early morning of April 27, at the age of 27, just six weeks after his diagnosis. I had lost my husband and my best friend – something I never thought possible at age 28.

James was a 2002 Verona graduate, a 2007 UW-Madison graduate, a former Verona Home Talent Baseball player and Verona JV Hockey coach, and a friend to many. To honor his memory and establish a lasting legacy, as family and friends, we wish to help find a cure so that no other families must suffer such a tragic loss.

In August 2011, the friends and family of James hosted the Inaugural James E. Doyle Memorial Golf Outing and Auction to benefit the Histiocytosis Association, a 501(c)3 organization that supports research of histiocytic disorders. In the first eight years of the event, we have raised more than $225,000 to support the Histiocytosis Association, and we are eager to continue generating support for this important cause.

Honor James and all the brave Histio Warriors battling these diseases by supporting the 10th Annual James E. Doyle Memorial Golf Outing and Auction. We look forward to seeing you there!

Sincerely,
Angie Bong & Family
